The best Italian Food in Vero Beach! I was raised in Long Island, NY so finding Good Italian Food in Florida is hard. I discovered this place about a year ago and now, this is the place we go to for Italian Night. My Favorite: The Mediterranean Grill & Eggplant Rollatini. Yummy! Fairly Priced, Cozy Atmosphere & Excellent Service......

Probably one of the best Italian places in the area! :) I absolutely love the Italian Grill. Their prices are very affordable for dinner, and the food tastes a billion times better than somewhere like Olive Garden for the price. The toasted bread with parmesan cheese that they bring out before your salad/soup is terrific; kinda greasy but oh so good. Their soups are great and their salads are okay. I've been here a couple of times, and I always order some type of simple pasta dish with their tomato sauce (which is amazing) and of course cheese. Also, the sausages they use for a few of their entrees are really good as well. I haven't tried any desserts from here yet, as I'm always stuffed from their loaded entrees; I always have to bring a box of half of it home.

Great experience :) close to home and the pasta was wonderful. We just moved from tacoma Washington and can say we have found a great Italian place for the family! Loved Mary she was efficient and nice at the same time! We will be back for sure!

We ordered take-out and had a couple pasta dishes and desserts. The pasta dishes were ok, nothing to write home about. The shining stars here were the desserts!! I could immediately tell that they made their own cannoli filling and also made their own tiramisu. If the person packing our take-out did NOT add additional fake whip cream to the top of our desserts, this review would have possibly been closer to 4 stars. Unfortunately, the desserts can't be the only redeeming thing about this place. I am willing to try Italian Grill again and update my review then... But let's just say I'm in no hurry to, unless it's just for the cannoli!

Best lasagna and margarita pizza ever. Minus the fact that the salad issue with iceberg lettuce, their creamy garlic dressing is phenomenal.

Food was ok, service was awful. Ellen was the worst waitress, very rude and inattentive. Will not go back!

Best appetizer size Margarita Pizza in town! Great Creamy Garlic salad dressing! Lasagna is pretty good too. Indoor / outdoor dining.

Now, called "Mimmo's Italian Grill", so kinda surprised Yelp hasn't updated the name, anyway...when I got there it was pretty busy, when we left, jammed packed! We went on a Friday night. We always like the food here, but usually end up at Carraba's-our favorite Italian restaurant. But the food here is really good, we need to come more often so we can try diff. things. I got the eggplant parmesan, while the hubby got the spaghetti with sauce. Everyone loves the bread, I ALWAYS eat too much, & end up with a tummy ache with the garlic in there! The Eggplant was really good. The salads were very fresh as well as the dressing. Ate too much to have desert...so will write another review, since we have coupons to go again!

Yuck. So disappointing. With it's positive reputation, my family and I thought it was a sure thing. I heard it was very good in the past. We ordered (1) linguine with white clam sauce and (2) angel hair with red, and garlic bread - take out ($48 for 3) The food was disgusting. The food's aroma smelled like a commercial kitchen sink full of pots and pans, the food looked like it had been eaten and regurgitated, and the pasta was 100% MUSH. There was not a hint of pure garlic and olive oil in the sauce. Honestly, the food was a disgrace. Even the bread sucked; it was little bits of broken up pieces - hard to explain, but I thought someone had opened the bread bag in the car on the way home and started eating it and tearing it apart. Nope- rather, that was the presentation. The entrees came with a really crappy side salad made of iceberg lettuce and a couple of mushy tomatoes slices. I did not consume the meal. It was garbage.

We have eaten here a few times with friends because they like it but we always find the food quality uneven. A couple of times good and a couple mediocre. One good thing is they do have grappa.

Met a colleague here for a business lunch yesterday. The first thing I noticed when I opened the door was the smell of bread baking...I ordered the calamari appetizer and almost ate the entire order before my colleague arrived. Light, crispy breading and tender. For lunch I had the seafood pescatore...loaded with fresh seafood and a sauce I wanted to drink with a straw....naturally I had to have desert....dulce de leche cheescake. An excellent meal in a "local" atmosphere.

Totally delicious and HOMEMADE food! Their house salad dressing is so delicious (if you love garlic!) But really, if you're patronizing an Italian establishment and you don't like garlic, there are problems Yelp reviews can't help you with..I moved here from NYC last year and this is the only restaurant I've tried in the area that reminds me of the authentic red-sauce places from up north. We get take-out from here or eat in probably 3 times per month. I always get the large house salad with added grilled chicken and the husband will get various entree items- we've never gotten anything we haven't liked! (from husband: Eggplant, Lasagna & Piccata are A+!) The wait service if you're dining-in is great. You can tell most of the waitresses have been there for a long time & everyone is super friendly and just glad you're there! If you're out west of town, this is the go-to dinner stop,-and we live on the river and still make the trek out! It's a family-friendly environment and you can usually get in with just a walk-in, but Fri/Sat dinner hours during Season get packed! The prices are competitive with a certain Italian chain restaurant that is just down the road, but Italian Grill's food is tri-fold better in quality and taste. If you pass this up, you cray.

Looking for affordable and GREAT italian food? You found it. I am visiting FL on a last minute trip for a family emergency so, by no means a vacation. I've been craving some good, Northeast style italian food and this is the place. I got a Perroni beer, basket of baked italian bread with cheese sprinkled atop, a perfect sized starter salad (I recommend the creamy garlic dressing) and then my main course-- pasta. It came to total of $16 and some change. Awesome.

Very disappointed in the service tonight. I think the waitress forgot about us. My husband's order was wrong and when we finally asked someone to send her back to us, she didn't offer to fix the problem. We are locals and eat there often. I hope this was an anomaly and not a trend. :(

Our first visit, and Italian Grill did not disappoint. We had the Chef's Special Pizza, and realized right away this pizza is way above other places in town. The red sauce on the pizza is delicious, and the pizza tasted just like what we get when we go to New York. Garlic knots were also very, very good! Going back to try the pasta next time!

Every time I drive through Vero Beach, I try to stop at Italian Grill. Their mussels are the best in the area and the service is always great. Very friendly crew and yummy food.

Service was a little slow but we were not in a hurry. From the outside, it's not a place I would have stopped at but we were happy with the food.

This place seems to be more interested in screwing you with all of the fine print on their menu as opposed to making you happy with their food. Check ALL of the fine print before placing your order. First off, their regular marinara sauce reminded me of what a jar of Ragu sauce tasted like in 1972. But then they have their 'special' family sauce, so I ordered that the next time I went and it wasn't bad. I ordered a pasta dish with sausage. When it came out I liked it. What I especially liked was the way the chef sliced the single sausage in quarter inch angles. I felt it made the dish. I even mentioned that to the waitress. Move forward six weeks. We went back and I wanted the same dish. I mentioned to the waitress how much I enjoyed that dish and especially how the sausage was cut. She informed me the sausage is not cut for that dish. I explained to her otherwise and she said if I wanted the sausage cut it may be deemed a special order and she walked away. When she came back with the dish the sausage was cut, but not angle cut like last time but it was still not bad. When I got the check, there was a $4.50 charge on the bill. I asked her what that was for and she said the sliced sausage was a special order. I told her that maybe it would have been ethical if when she found this out she could have informed me and I would have decided if I still wanted that dish. She brought the manager over and instead of taking it off the bill even after I explained what happened last time, he stuck by the waitress even when I told him she will get no tip because of it. And she didn't. $4.50 to slice one sausage into a few pieces! What a bunch of creeps! Stay away. One time they even tried charging me $5.00 for a sharing charge because I tasted my dad's soup! Defrost some horrible Stouffers at home and save yourself the aggravation. There should be some consumer laws against this type of chicanery!

I'm from New Jersey where there's a lot of Italian restaurants and this one felt like I was just at home. I Ordered penne al vodka and it was delicious and very flavorful. The service was good but our waitress could've been a little more attentive/friendly she seemed snobby and didn't even check up on us until she gave us our check but other than that everything was great and definitely would recommend this place to anyone.

Great food, great sauces on the pasta- Had to really coax the waitress into describing their sauces - ultimately happy with choices of ala vodka sauce and pomodoro This restaurant is also very happy to modify/ customize order without attitude :)

The bread is AWESOME and baked fresh daily. The calimari is out of this world. The pasta fagioli soup is a salivating TEN PLUS and the atmosphere is cute, quaint and wonderful. I cant say enough great things about this little Italian gem. Every meal we have ordered has been just the best. The wait staff are excellent and work hard to make it perfect for all. A full bar compliments this eatery. THERE IS NO COMPARISON WITH OLIVE GARDEN........everything at The Italian Grill is made fresh. A MUST TRY IF YOU ARE IN VERO BEACH. I hate to recommend this restaurant for fear that everyone will start going and we wont ge able to get in. Enjoy! ...forgot to mention the Margherita pizza is the best in this world......Colleen M

Everything I have tried on their menu has been fantastic. The atmosphere is very casual, but the dining is first rate. I find the service to be friendly and helpful, without being smothering or stuffy. I have been treated well whether I am on a date and we are spending a lot of money with nice wines and all - or whether I am just running in for a quick plate of pasta for lunch while I am out shopping. You don't have to dress up, they take all kinds of credit cards, and I have never been disappointed by the food. It is REAL Italian, not like they have at chain restaurants like olive garden that they serve with a cookie cutter - but I feel like my Nonnie is in the kitchen making really home-style Italian food.

Visited the Italian grill about 7pm on a Sunday night. It's is a very "local" place and they weren't very welcoming. The resturant was about 1/4 full, not bad for the hour. The Salad that came with the meals had no flavor too it at all, the Minestrone soup looked like something that you would make if you took out all the leftovers in the fridge and put into a pot... tasted as bad as it looks. We had the chicken parm - no guessing here, this was clearly one of those pre-breaded and cooked chicken patties they get from their food supplier. Nothing about this meal was fresh. Sauce was really really bland. We ended the meal quickly - left most of it behind. See some of the other reviews, this is a kitchen nightmares restaurant. Never though I would say Olive Garden would be better then this place.....

I think this restaurant has been underrated and I was hesitant to go, but glad I did. We went for lunch during a weekday and there was no wait and good service. We sat outside and, even though the view is of the parking lot, it's a nice outdoor seating area on a day with good weather. Now for the best part - the food was simply delicious! Everything tasted fresh and homemade! Their pasta fagioli soup is amazing - even the small comes in a huge bowl; it's enough for a meal or get it as a starter and you'll still have leftovers to take home. The meatball sub was plenty big for 2 people to split (with each person getting 2 full, giant meatballs). The lunch pasta entrees included a soup or salad to start - a GREAT deal considering these dishes are only around $8.95!! But if you want the pasta fagioli, it's $3.95 extra, but definitely well worth it. We had the Angel Hair "Vidalia" - light, fresh, tasty... I ate the entire bowl! And the Rigatoni "Ala Grill" - nice thick pasta with a hearty, flavorful sauce! They don't have a kid's menu, but are willing to make pretty much anything they offer in a kid's portion. We did a "kids cheese pizza" - the crust was thick and fluffy and the cheese was plentiful! We were more then pleased and will definitely be returning! Highly recommend for great tasting, fresh, homemade Italian! :)

My favorite! The Penna ala Vodka is unbelievable! The side salad with creamy garlic dressing is scrumptious along with the breadsticks...the mozzarella a la caprese is superb! To me, this is authentic Italian food, unlike Olive Garden... Also to mention is the Margarita pizza. Rather good as well. Can't say much about the rest of the stuff as I can't seem to move past these delicious items!

Incredible food and value and a great locally owned gem! Real Italian food with real flavor. The brushetta was delicious with olives, onions and capers. Could have used some shaved Parmesan, but was delicious with shredded Parmesan and nicely baked. The dinners were huge portions of chicken and veal, over pasta or vegetables, with a lemon, wine and butter sauce. The sauce on the pasta tasted like fresh home made tomato sauce and the veggies were cooked nicely - including yellow carrots which were a treat. No room for dessert , but we did take home left overs!

Have been here twice and was disappointed both times - food was mediocre. It doesn't seem fresh and tends to be salty. The last time I ordered a pasta with ham and peas. The ham was luncheon meat cut into squares. Seems past its glory years, like the restaurants you see on Kitchen Nightmares, where they just don't care any more. The only saving grace was the spumoni on the dessert menu.

Food mediocre. Evening special priced at 24.95 poor. Shrimp from a can, tiny scallops, etc. made the dish disappointing. Manager allowed his waitperson to be placed in a poor position when complaint about special was lodged.

I have been there 3 times in 10+ years. The food is average Italian-nothing to run back for. The atmosphere is 'yes, we look Italian'. WARNING: If you are NOT one of the local regulars-well to do ($), or look like you are, be prepared to be treated like 'what are you doing here'!?! If you have any visible tattoos, I recommend you hide them and dress up. We went there a few months ago+ and since my tats were showing, they gave us 'the look' and sat us way in the back (by a back door) in the outdoor/covered area, away from their precious clients. We sat there for 30 mins, no one even gave us a glass of water or asked if we even wanted anything to drink. the other 2 tables in that area were constantly being waited on and we were obviously ignored. There is nothing on that menu to keep me there so we got up to leave and suddenly as we were walking out, the person with the water appeared on our way out. Told them bye and left. We weren't exactly wanting to go there to begin with, but hoped the menu had more to offer and what the heck--lets give it another try---NOT! Thanks staff at the Italian Grill for taking awesome care of your rich, elderly, good-ole-boy, prominent, and stereotype customers....we are proud to be excluded from this group.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
